Wow, this proposed plan to require foreign visitors to hand over years of social media history and detailed family info before even stepping foot in the U.S. sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie. Turning a quick trip into what feels like a full background audit? It definitely raises eyebrows and gets people talking about privacy and travel freedom. Sure, national security is important, but asking for five years of every account you’ve ever used and personal details from your relatives seems like a pretty big leap from the usual customs routine. It’s one thing to check passports and visas, and another to sift through someone’s entire digital footprint just to enjoy a holiday or visit family. If this goes through, it could make people rethink their travel plans, especially from visa-waiver countries that were used to a much simpler process. At the very least, it’ll spark a serious debate about how much personal data governments should collect and why.
