Whereas a single nefarious astroturfer might struggle to keep 20-50 social media personas active, even with coordination software, with deep fake text they could easily spin up thousands of personas with a single central theme, conversing eternally with each other to make more convincing personas, and might not even need to babysit them as they spit out content forever.
